About me …
My love of fashion began at a young age. My mother was one of my biggest influences, and she helped me develop my own style. My mother would spend all of her spare time on the sewing machine, surrounded by fabrics and thread, making special outfits for us, but mostly for me.
When I started dance classes, she made my tops and skirts. Later, when I began dancing Latin and Ballroom, we picked fabrics, colors, and designs together. Fashion brought us even closer together, and I loved her taste. She taught me that style doesn’t mean following a trend, but expressing who you really are, your character and natural femininity, and this has guided me well.
I began modelling when I was a student. In the beginning, I didn’t feel comfortable in front of the camera. I wanted to fit in, to be as good as my beauty idols. I began chasing an ideal, forgetting what Audrey Hepburn once said:
”The beauty of a woman is not in a facial mode but the true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It is the caring that she lovingly gives the passion that she shows. The beauty of a woman grows with the passing years.”
And this is so true.
The only opinion that counts is yours. You don’t need to look like a model to feel beautiful – in fact, I knew many attractive models who were unhappy with their looks. Looking good depends on your overall health and self-esteem. A positive perception of yourself will give you far greater confidence than any external validation or compliment.
When I was young, I found it hard to accept compliments about my appearance. I would think, “That’s very nice, but is that all you see? What about my personality, soul, intelligence, and values?” To me, being a good person is everything – and I don’t just mean loving and respecting others, but also yourself, accepting who you are, and discovering your role in the world. Like RuPaul says, “If you can’t love yourself, how are you going to love somebody else?”
Professional development is just as important. Not just climbing the career ladder, but continued learning and applying your knowledge at every opportunity. This gives you the confidence, credibility, and ability to influence, as well as offering you plenty of topics to discuss at social events.
My first love was tourism. After finishing an MA in International Tourism Management, I became Project Manager and then later Executive Director at an international marine event in the Adriatic. I then discovered a passion for corporate law, and in 2017, began studying Civil and Corporate Law at the European Law Faculty.
After almost eight years in the corporate world, I wanted to take a step back. It was time for me to rediscover my love for fashion and beauty and share that love with you. I hope you’ll enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy writing it, and that you’ll learn something from my experiences. At the very least, I hope to encourage you to embrace your truest, best, and most beautiful self – after all, it’s been there all along.
Spread your wings,
