5 of the Hottest Colour Trends for AW19

Newsflash: we’re officially in the Autumn/Winter season.

This means that it’s time to say goodbye to the pretty Spring/Summer colour palette and, instead, embrace darker and richer hues that fall in line with darker mornings (and nights!)

Or is it?

Surprisingly, some of the fresh shades of SS19 are still sticking around. Want to know specifics? Well, I’ll tell you – read on for 5 of the hottest colour trends for AW19.

1. Brown Variety

Firstly, if you adored the neutrals trend of SS19, then I’ve got some good news for you… It shows no signs of going out of style.

In fact, designers such as Margaret Howell, Victoria Beckham and Loewe have revamped the bashful beige trend of last season to include other bodacious brown hues for AW19. These include caramel, chocolate, biscuit and chestnut.

And yes, they’re just as tasty as they sound.

2. Neon Splash

On the other end of the spectrum, the loud-and-proud fluorescents that were all over the style scene in SS19 are making a comeback in colourful bursts.

That’s right, acid brights were seen in abundance at the Balenciaga, Marc Jacobs and Fendi AW19 shows. I’m talking about hot pink, jade green and tomato red – to name a few!

Whether you wear these entrancing hues head to toe or as an outfit accent, one thing’s for sure: they bring a much-needed pop of colour to a dreary autumnal day.

3. Canary Yellow

Is there an absence of sunshine in your area? No problem – you can BE the sunshine with the upcoming captivating canary yellow trend.

Hot on the heels of AW19 neon, this bold tone was featured in excess on the AW19 catwalks of Molly Goddard, Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors.

But unlike the neon trend, it’s meant to be worn as a standalone hue or alongside neutrals so that it can really take centre stage.

4. Deep Red

Another hot shade for AW19 is deep red. Colour gurus Pantone describe this mesmerising hue as “adventurous, strong and powerful” – and I’m obsessed.

It featured in several ready-to-wear collections but in different ways. For instance, Tom Ford and Oscar de la Renta championed it in velvet form; whereas, Coach models sizzled in a selection of suits.

However you decide to wear it, you’re guaranteed to become the ultimate lady in red this season.

5. Purple Reign

Finally, purple commanded the AW19 catwalks of names such as Dries Van Noten, Kate Spade and Comme des Garcons.

Mostly used as an accent, the colour purple was present in a variety of tones – and not just the traditional plum shade that we usually see in an Autumn/Winter season.

Want to nod to this trend? Use this regal hue with a dark colour palette for a soft and sultry look. Alternatively, if you’re feeling brave, opt for a head to toe multi-tonal purple outfit that’s guaranteed to turn heads.

Embracing a Spectrum of AW19 Colour Trends

Just as diverse as they are dynamic, the AW19 colour trends offer something to suit every personal taste.

Sure, it might be true that not every one of these shades will compliment a specific skin tone. However, you never know until you try!
